Bordeaux in France

Bordeaux is the picture of traditional and historical France situated near the southwest corner of the country situated along the European Atlantic Coast. While in Bordeaux there are plenty of attractions and historical landmarks scattered around the city to offer plenty of entertainment for all of your senses at every angle. It is similar in a sense to Montpellier, on the southern coast.

First of all, you will have to make sure to check out the camel park and the nearby Jardin Botanique de Bordeaux. While there head near the medieval walls gate called the La Grosse Cloche. Nearby is also the Place de La Bourse which dates back to the 17th century and is well worth a look. Nomadic Matt also has a great page with resources on what to see and do in Bordeaux.

Make sure to travel towards the coastal local village of Arcachon that is not only petite and quaint, but also home to some of the largest European sand dunes and a great location to book a camel ride. If shopping is more up to your speed you may want to try out the many markets that are scattered throughout Bordeaux such as the Grands Hommes market which is world renowned. Finally, make sure to see the Grand Theatre or Fine arts museum to get some local culture while in town.
