Tips on planning a gap year

If you are thinking about taking a gap year before heading back to university you will have to think long and hard about what you are going to do with your time off. A gap year can be a great way to see a bit of the world or to gain some experience within the field that you eventually plan on going into, but either way it will require some planning in order to make sure that you get the most out of your time off.

For those who want to use the time to explore the world, you will need to consider just how far away from home you plan on getting. Some students intend to simply purchase a Europass and see everything that the EU has to offer, while others want to flee to an entirely new continent and visit somewhere like Australia, Africa, or the US to gain a completely different perspective on life.

More adventurous trips will require a higher starting budget so it is important to weigh your options and decide what is financially viable. Those who want to gain some work experience will also want to think about where they would like to live during their time off taking care to choose a location with suitable jobs and internships so that they can actually get some time exposed to the field of their liking.

This will require some research as well, but if you spend time to carefully think out your decision you will have much better luck in the end getting what you want out of your gap year.
