British Airways have joined up with Comic Relief this year in an attempt to put on the ‘Highest Stand-Up Comedy Gig in the World’. This is an unprecedented event, part of a year-long partnership between BA and Comic Relief to deliver a comic treat in the hope of raising awareness and hopefully donations for the great work carried out by the organisation across the world.
The British airline had some challenges over the last year, but it is great to see that they have stood by their pledge to invest in corporate responsibility initiatives.
On Saturday 12th March 2011, British comedians Dara O’Briain, Jack Whitehall and Jon Richardson will team up with British Airways and Guinness World Records in an attempt to set the record for the “Highest Stand-Up Comedy Gig in the World”. The stunt will be performed at approximately 35000 feet over the UK to a special audience of lucky competition winners.
The event by the British airline is part of wider campaign called Flying Start aimed at helping transform the lives of children from disadvantaged backgrounds both in the UK and around the world. Donations raised through the Flying Start campaign will go towards charitable projects in the UK, Africa, Asia and Latin America for children who lead particularly tough lives.
For the chance to be sat on one of those 75 seats flying over the UK to enjoy two-and-a-half hours of stand-up comedy for charity – including champagne and refreshments – fans can text ‘Fly1′ to 70300 or visit www.facebook.com/britishairways to enter the competition. Full terms and conditions are available from the Facebook page.
I strongly advise all of you to get involved with this great cause!
